The asset and its network
Kusama is a separate network from Polkadot, with KSM as its native asset. Similar tooling and address formats do not make KSM and DOT interchangeable. Confirm the chain, destination, and any minimum-balance requirements.
Official documentation ↗How fees work
The fee asset shown above is the usual native currency for the listed network. Token balances and fee balances are separate. Costs depend on the operation and current network rules; verify the current estimate in the software you use. The network examples shown for multi-chain assets are not exhaustive.
Before a transfer
Match the asset, network, destination, and any memo or tag with the recipient’s instructions. Token symbols are not unique identifiers: confirm the contract, mint, or policy where applicable. Review the complete request on the signing device before authorizing it.
Confirmations and settlement
Submission, inclusion, confirmation, and final settlement are different stages. Use the correct network explorer and the recipient’s confirmation policy to interpret status. Fees and settlement times vary; this reference does not promise a fixed cost or arrival time.
Moving between networks
An ordinary transfer stays on its network. Cross-network movement requires an explicitly supported route, which may introduce bridge, issuer, or custodian dependencies. Similar names or address formats do not establish compatibility.
